OUTDOOR TOILET WITH A DIFFERENCE!

OUTDOOR TOILET WITH A DIFFERENCE!

DANIEL LANCASTER AND HIS WIFE, EMILY, ARE CERTAINLY NOT SHORT OF CREATIVE IMAGINATION – THIS OUTDOOR TOILET COMBINES PRACTICALITY, FUN, AND NOVEL GARDEN DECOR!!

Daniel said on our gardening group:  “So this was our solution to getting a ‘downstairs loo’ on a budget. We placed a red cast iron phone box in the garden. So instead of an expensive extension to the house, we bought this phone box from Ebay”

The toilet and sink were also from Ebay. It’s all plumbed in properly, so it’s not a portaloo. It’s a proper outdoor toilet. There’s electric for lighting too

So, how easy was it? Keep reading to find out just what this scheme entailed

First step was transportation and delivery.  ‘Beam me up Scotty’ would have helped at this point. With assistance from Emily’s father it got there

Next, just need to get it in place…

…no mean feat, being cast iron and weighing it at nearly a ton. Some forward planning worked wonders. Having seen it sat on the Lancasters’ drive for 3 months, the neighbours were itching to see what they were going to do with it

Time for the reformation. This is going to be no ordinary telephone kiosk!

Once the plumbing and electrics were done, and frosted glass added for privacy, it was time to tackle the floor. Heating was something Daniel deemed an unnecessary expense. It’s not in use in the winter. The cistern and pan are drained so there is no water to freeze

Having spent a penny…well, quite a few actually, Daniel told The Sun newspaper that for the floor he used a piece of plywood screwed firmly onto a frame of timber. Daniel glued the pennies down and filled the gaps with tile grout. Then he applied epoxy resin on the top

And, finally, time to add the finishing touches…

So, there you have it, a job well done. And if Mr and Mrs Lancaster, or their guests, get caught short while out enjoying the sun and the fruits of their labours…there isn’t far to go!

We think this outdoor toilet is awesome! We’re pretty sure there isn’t another garden cloakroom like it, so Daniel and Emily could just have started a whole new trend!

Oh, and in case you were wondering if Daniel or Emily are enjoying a secret tipple – it’s not a bottle of wine,..it’s a toilet brush!

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing more of Daniel and Emily on the gardening group https://www.facebook.com/groups/gardeningonabudgetofficial/
