How to keep your home tidy and organised.

Keeping your home organised can have a positive impact on your stress levels and overall peace of mind, but finding a place for everything is not always an easy task.

So here are some top tips to help you keep your home organised.

1, Have weekly clearouts.

This may sound like a lot, but i don’t mean clear out your entire home every week. The idea of having a weekly clear our is to make the job bitesize. Pick one area of your home that needs an overhaul each week and focus on that. For example, the kitchen drawers, one week and the cupboards the next. This also helps you to not move on to another area of your home before finishing the first.

2, It is Ok to say no!

We have all been in a situation when someone offers you something and you say yes, just to be polite. Knowing that we have no room for that dressing table, or the kids won’t fit into the clothes offered for another 3 years. We say yes anyway in the fear of seeming ungrateful. It is ok to say. Thank you for the lovely offer and for thinking of us, but no thank you.

3, Clearout before buying storage.

Most people when deciding their home needs decluttering run out to buy storage boxes and units to hide the clutter they have. It’s much more proactive to clear your items out first. While deciding what to keep and what to toss, always remember the “80/20 rule.” “It’s the theory that most of us only use 20 percent of what we have. That’s a good starting point to realizing you are surrounded by a lot of things you probably don’t need. Working this way round will save you from keeping stuff you don’t need.

4, Clothing.

One of the best tips i have ever come across is, hang all your clothes up with the hanger facing towards the back of your wardrobe, if you wear it and rehang turn that hanger around. If anything is still facing towards the back of the wardrobe in 9 months throw it, or donate that item. You haven’t worn it.

5 Get ready for seasons.

Winter blankets, clothes, coats and the like and be stored away in the warmer months. Vacuum bags and under bed boxes are fantastic for this. As it gets warmer switch what you are storing away.

6, Shop for storage solutions

There is some amazing storage products out there you didn’t even know you needed. Like hanging glass racks, removable shelves for your kitchen cupboard. Even a drawer tidy to keep your knickers and bras in order. Invest in some of these items. Even if you only buy one item a month this will soon add up.
