Festive Slow Cooker Drinks

Snuggle up and get cosy with these winter warming drinks for all the family.

We have created two festive slow cooker bangers for everyone to enjoy this season. An alcohol based mulled wine perfect for those chilly nights and a creamy hot chocolate hug in a mug, which can be enjoyed by all of the family.

Festive Slow Cooker Mulled Wine (Total cost to make £9.10)

Ingredients

  • 2 Large Oranges
  • 1 Unwaxed Lemon
  • 100g Fresh Cranberries
  • Whole Cloves
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Star Anise
  • Caster Sugar
  • 2 Bottles of Red wine
  • 100ml Orange Juice

Method

  1. Slice the oranges and lemons to an even thickness.
  2. Place cloves into each segment of the orange slices.
  3. Layer the oranges and lemons onto the bottom of the slow cooker and top with 100g of fresh cranberries.
  4. Add 100g of caster sugar, 2 cinnamon sticks and 3 star anise to the pot.
  5. Pour over 100ml of orange juice.
  6. Glug in the 2 bottles of red wine.
  7. Cook on low for 2 hours.
  8. Remove the oranges and spices.
  9. Scoop out the cranberries, adding them to a sieve over a bowl. Squeeze out the juices and add juices back to the slow cooker.
  10. Serve into mugs with sliced oranges and top with fresh cranberries.

Festive Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate (Total cost to make £5.60)

Ingredients

  • Mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp Hazelnut Spread
  • 300ml Double Cream
  • 200g Instant Hot Chocolate Powder
  • 4 Pints Semi-skimmed Milk
  • Squirty Cream

Method

  1. Sprinkle the instant hot chocolate powder into the slow cooker followed by the hazelnut spread.
  2. Drizzle over the double cream.
  3. Whisk in the semi-skimmed milk, mixing well.
  4. Cook on low for 2 hours.
  5. Remove the lid and stir well.
  6. Add the mini marshmallows to cover the surface of the pot.
  7. Serve into mugs, topped with the squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles.
